I made a blog and a Youtube channel about cryptocurrency news.

I wanted to start a business that could generate passive income. I thought content creation would be an interesting way of achieving this goal and something I would be able to do without abandoning my job.

I started a blog on Blogspot so I could show ads from Google Ads along side my posts. Unfortunately I could not meet the monetization metrics and Google's vague feedbacks didn't help me figure it out.

Moving past this setback, I thought I could still produce content on cryptocurrencies, so I started a youtube channel using the same brand name I created for the blog.

I tried different formats: narrated videos, short videos, AI narration, human narration, hard news, light-hearted news... I landed on a format that was lean, with a well-defined production line and using the tools I already had: AI narrated daily news digest videos up to 3 minutes.

I used the following technologies: Canva Pro for image creation, image editing and video editing; Eleven Labs for AI narration; Reaper for audio editing; Bing AI for image generation; Chat GPT for news summary and video scripting; Youtube and Blogspot for publishing videos and blog posts.

The daily production showed itself more tiresome than I expected. Being 3 months on the project without making money and no money in sight was also disheartening. I felt the channel stagnated. At the end on November I shut the project down.

I learned a lot about optimizing content production and got very proficient on Canva, which is more powerful than I thought.
